Let a Waterfall Excursion Enhance Your Seattle Corporate Event
One
of the greatest challenges that any corporate event planner faces is
coming up with something unique, especially for events that take place year
after year. Employees expect experiences to change, too. The last thing they
want is to take time away from work or family for a company event that covers
the same topics as the year before, goes to the same places, and has the exact
same team-building events.
Plus,
today’s employees don’t just want something different; they want something
unique. They’re tired of museums—perhaps with the exception of the Museum of
Pop Culture in Seattle—and when they’re somewhere known for its gorgeous
outdoor spaces, it’s no wonder that they want to spend some time outside.
5 Waterfall Visits to Tack on to Your
Next Corporate Event in the Pacific Northwest
There’s
something rejuvenating about the sights and sounds of a waterfall, making it a
perfect addition to any event itinerary. Whether your team is visiting for a
conference, retreat, or special company gathering in Seattle or Portland, a waterfall
excursion adds an unforgettable element to the experience.
Did you know that there are over 17,000 waterfalls in the U.S.? It’s true. And thousands of those waterfalls are located right here in the Pacific Northwest. Washington state boasts 3,165 waterfalls, to be precise, followed by 1,641 in Oregon. So, if over 30% of the country’s magnificent waterfalls are here, then it stands to reason that a visit or two is in order for your next company event.
Here are five incredible waterfalls that are easy to incorporate into your event plans for a refreshing day trip or weekend adventure.
Snoqualmie Falls
Located just 30 miles east of Seattle, Snoqualmie Falls is a stunning 268-foot waterfall that’s both easily accessible and iconic. This popular destination is a wonderful choice for a team outing, offering scenic viewpoints and nearby hiking trails. Visitors can also enjoy Salish Lodge & Spa, which offers luxurious amenities and dining options. While it’s about 200 miles from Portland, Snoqualmie Falls makes for a great day trip or a quick getaway if your event is Seattle-based.
Multnomah Falls
Only 30 minutes from downtown Portland and 165 miles south of Seattle, Multnomah Falls is Oregon’s tallest waterfall, with two distinct drops totaling 620 feet. Its beauty and proximity to the city make it a must-visit during any Portland event. Guests can take a short hike to the Benson Bridge for a closer look, or enjoy lunch at the Multnomah Falls Lodge. For groups, it’s a great spot for sightseeing and exploring the scenic Columbia River Gorge—a 4,000-foot-deep canyon!
Myrtle Falls
Nestled within Mt. Rainier National Park, Myrtle Falls is a picturesque 72-foot waterfall framed by views of Mount Rainier itself. Located about 85 miles from Seattle, it’s a beautiful day trip destination with plenty of short trails and picnic areas. A visit here offers a unique opportunity to combine natural beauty with a sense of serenity, a great option for team bonding. Keep in mind that access to this waterfall is seasonally dependent, with best access and views in fall, spring and summer months.
Palouse Falls
Palouse
Falls in Eastern Washington is well worth the journey. Located about 260 miles
from Seattle and 220 miles from Portland, this 198-foot waterfall is especially
convenient for teams gathering near Spokane or Coeur d’Alene.
Palouse
Falls is surrounded by rugged basalt canyons, creating a dramatic landscape
that’s perfect for photography and sightseeing. A visit to this hidden gem
provides a distinctive Pacific Northwest experience that’s sure to impress.
Please note, however, that your team will be unable to hike into the canyon or to the base of the falls. But, you can still see the falls from the ADA-compliant walking trails or the parking lot.
Silver Falls State Park
Approximately
50 miles south of Portland and 230 miles from Seattle, Silver Falls State Park
offers a one-of-a-kind experience with its famous Trail of Ten Falls. Teams can
explore multiple waterfalls in a single visit, making it a memorable addition
to any event.
The park’s accessible trails range in length, so groups of all fitness levels can enjoy the scenic views and lush surroundings. Silver Falls is a fun and gorgeous choice for Portland-based gatherings seeking a day of adventure in nature. And, if you have attendees of various activity levels, this gives you the opportunity to let your team members sign up for different experiences.
